An intravenous pyelogram is an X-ray examination of the kidneys, ureters, and bladder in which iodinated contrast material is injected into the veins. X-rays help doctors diagnose and treat medical conditions. It exposes you to a small dose of ionizing radiation to create images of the inside of the body.
